Journal of Fisheries of China (JFC) accepts manuscripts mainly in Chinese. Authors are encouraged to invite experts with high English proficiency to polish their English writing. The publishing scope includes research articles and reviews in basic studies in fisheries, aquaculture and proliferation, environmental protection of fishery waters, preservation, processing and comprehensive utilization of aquatic products, and fishery machinery and instruments. From October 10, 2017, all accepted manuscripts will be firstly published online simultaneously on the official website of the journal and CNKI (www.cnki.net). The online edition has the same effect to the print edition.
Section 1 Submission Statement
The first author (or the corresponding author) should provide a statement including following information (independent of the article, placed in the first page of the file):
(1) briefly introduce the significance of the article in the research field.
(2) clarify that the submitted manuscript does not duplicate the content of other unpublished articles.
(3) ensure all authors agree to submit the article to this journal.
(4) declare that the manuscript has not been published or submitted to other journals.
(5) if the article is submitted to a special issue, the issue title shall be specified.
(6) 3-5 reviewers could be recommended with detailed information (institution, contact address and postcode)
Section 2 Format of Manuscripts
1. Research articles (No. 5 Songti font) should include general information, Chinese title, Chinese abstract, Chinese keywords (3-8), English title, English abstract, English keywords, main body text, acknowledgement, references, etc.
2. Reviews (No. 5 Songti font) should include general information, Chinese title, Chinese key words (3~8), English title, English abstract, English key words (corresponding to Chinese key words), main body text, acknowledgement, references, etc.
Section 3 Detailed Requirements
1. General Information: General information includes article title (generally no more than 20 Chinese characters), names and institutes of all authors, brief introduction of the first author [name, age, title (degree), academician or not, research direction], indicating corresponding authors and E-mail, telephone and funding support. The wordcount and the number of figures and tables shall be indicated at the lower left corner.
2. Abstracts: The Chinese and English abstracts shall include a concise summary of [Background], one sentence description of [Objective], general description of [Methods], detailed [Results], followed by [Conclusion] with main findings and [Significance] of the article. The Chinese abstract is about 500 characters. The English abstract in research articles should be about 1000 words (notional words). The scientific name of research subject should be used when they appear the first time in the abstract. All species should be referred to by Latin terms instead of English words.
3. Main Body Text: (1) Introduction: The introduction is the basic description of the research based on results or conclusions of published papers. It should reflect the development of relevant research fields, and combine the research objective with the research background. (2) Methods: Methods is written on the principle of reproducibility. The method statement shall be detailed. If a method of a published article is used, only the source shall be indicated; The source of the reagent, the model of the instrument used and the name of the software shall be stated. (3) Results: The textual description and the contents of figures and tables shall complement each other. Statistical results can be included in figures, tables or text. figures and tables shall be numbered according to the order in which they appear in the text. (4) Discussion: The purpose of discussion is to comment on the significance and innovation of the results reported in this article, and compare it with relevant works. The discussion part should focus on the results and answer the questions raised in the introduction part. It shall be concise and straightforward. Speculation should be based on evidence.
4. References: Authors must double-check and ensure the accuracy of the references. Authors are encouraged to cite the literatures published in recent 5 years. Unpublished materials shall not be included. Only the first three authors shall be listed followed by “等/et al”. The serial number of in-text and post-text references shall correspond to each other. The information of Chinese references shall be translated into English and listed under the same serial number after the text. Examples of format are as follow. 5. Tables: Tables should be place in text, concise and informative. Reader shall be able to understand the content without reading the text. The table headings and content shall be in both Chinese and English, all letters in lowercase.
6. Figures: There should be detailed annotations for figures. The information contained in headings and annotations could make readers understand the figure without reading the text. Headings and annotations are in both Chinese and English with all letters in lowercase. Maps should be clear, accurate and standardized (please refer to guidelines of the Ministry of Natural Resources: https://www.mnr.gov.cn/).
7. Others
(1) Subheadings at first and second levels in the text are preceded by "1 / 1.1". The third level subheadings are preceded by two spaces but no numbers.
(2) Romanization of people names or places shall be in Chinese Pinyin. Author's name is written as: LOU Yundong (楼允东). Species and variables in formulas shall be in italics. Quantities, units and symbols shall be in accordance with national standards.

Section 4 Submission Requirement
1. Manuscripts should be submitted online via the JFC’s official website at https://www.china-fishery.com/jfcen/home. Submission via email is not accepted.
2. Except for special cases, authors will be notified within 3 months if the manuscript is not accepted. If the manuscript needs revising, authors must return the revised manuscript, original manuscript and revision statement to the editorial office of the journal within two months. If authors do not return the manuscript within the time limit, it will be registered as a new submission.
3. An APC(RMB 300 yuan/page)will be payable once the manuscript is accepted. In addition, a processing fee for color pages shall be charged (RMB 800 yuan/page). Color printing shall be determined by the content of article and will not be changed unless reviewers have different suggestion.
4. Along with the manuscript, the supplementary documents listed below should be provided.
