Experiments of tagging and. recovery of Chinese Prawn (Penasus orienialis Kisninouye)were conducted in Liaodong Bay. Surveys were made under such topics as the choice of sites，the suitable sire of seeding fry and the result of recovery rate through tagging. During the past three years, thv total number of 123.572 tagged prawns were released and the total recovery number was 1, 233. The results showed that the mouth of Liao He River was an ideal site far releasing the tagged prawns. During the autumn harvest season, it was found that the migration and distribution of the the prawn covered the traditional central fishing zones. The tagged prawn was successfully recaptured in the spawning gorund and also in the overwintering ground. The suitable body length of the fry for tagging is over 5 cm.Tn this case, the rate of recapture is higher, its best percentage being 3.31%.This study provides a scientific basis for the eaplaitatian of production range of prawn releasing in Liaodang Bay.
